Abstract

This review is based on routine investigations of our group, being carried out for several years on parameters of population biology viz., inbreeding levels, recurrent abortions, still births, congenital malformations, twins, twinning, several genetic traits, syndromes in relation to haemoglobin variations etc. Among investigations on blood picture hereunder We have chiefly concentrated on HbF and globin chain variables. For the first time probably, specific correlates of human migrations have been presented with physiological status of adults in terms of possession of Y globin chains. Mixing of globin chains may indicate pathological stress in haemoglobin.
